‘Dancing With The Stars’ Finale Ratings Down From 2014, ‘Chicago Med’ OK In Week 2

Just in time for Thanksgiving, a winner was crowned on Dancing With The Stars (2.4/8) last night, and we’re getting closer to one on The Voice (2.1/7). As America gets ready for the holiday, usage slipped 4% from last week.

Up 4% among adults 18-49 from its Season 20 finale on May 19 this year for its best demo rating in almost a year, Tuesday’s two-hour DWTS was down 17% from the Season 19 ender of November 25. And DWTS can’t blame its lead-in — the A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (2.2/8) special was actually up 16% over the DWTS clip show that played before the Season 19 finale. All of which gave ABC (along with competition winners Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough) a win in both the demo and total viewership with a 2.3/8 rating and an audience of 11.45 million.

A win is not what you would call last night for Fox as Thanksgiving-themed Grandfathered (0.9/3), The Grinder (0.7/2) and Scream Queens (0.8/3) all dropped to new lows in fast nationals. The net’s freshman lineup saw the first and the third shows down by a tenth from their November 17 episodes, and the Rob Lowe-starrer decline by 22% in the demo.

CBS’ lineup of NCIS (2.1/7), NCIS: New Orleans (1.6/5) and Limitless (1.3/4) saw the franchise duo even with last week. The freshman thriller based on the 2011 Bradley Cooper pic of the same name took a 7% dip from its November 17 airing, which is a low for Limitless in fast nationals. So close you almost want to call it a tie, CBS was a very near second in viewership behind ABC with an audience of 11.42 million.

With its Season 9 finale coming in mid-December, The Voice took a 19% hit in the demo up against the Charlie Brown special instead of the usual ABC 8 PM lineup of The Muppets and Fresh Off The Boat. That hit pushed the singing show to a season low in fast nationals. That decline probably didn’t do newbie Chicago Med (1.8/6) at 9 PM any favors in its second week. Still, the latest Dick Wolf Windy City spinoff was only down 18% in 18-49s compared to its November 17 debut – not a bad decline this season compared to other freshman shows. Chicago Fire (1.8/6) was steady with last week with just a 5% dip in the demo.

The CW had a Greatest Holiday Commercials Countdown (0.4/1) at 8 PM and a The Flash (0.3/1) repeat at 9 PM on Tuesday.

Have a great Thanksgiving Hollywood!
