CW Revives 'The Selection,' Gives Pilot Order to Taylor Hackford's 'Company Town'
The CW is taking another crack at its "Hunger Games"-esque drama project "The Selection," and has given a pilot order to "The Devil's Advocate" director Taylor Hackford's naval drama "Company Town," a spokesman for the network told TheWrap on Wednesday.
Based on the Kiera Cass novel of the same name, "The Selection" -- which received a pilot order last year, but didn't go forward, follows a working-class young woman in a futuristic land who's chosen to participate in a lottery with 25 other women to compete for the Royal Prince's hand in marriage, as a budding rebellion threatens to topple the royal family.

Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain ("Dollhouse," "666 Park Avenue") are executive-producing the Warner Bros. Television project.
"Company Town," meanwhile, follows a scandal at a Naval base in Virginia that affects both civilians and military personnel. The pilot revolves around two women in their 20s who were once best friends, but now find them selves on opposing sides of the civilian/military divide. Hackford is directing and executive-producing, with Sera Gamble, of the network's "Supernatural," writing and executive producing.
The CBS TV Studio project is also executive-produced by Bill Haber.
