Condoleezza Rice has joined CBS News as a contributor.

"Everybody knows Condoleezza Rice was President Bush's Secretary of State but I'm highly pleased to announce she has a new job,"  Bob Schieffer said at the top of the roundtable discussion Sunday on "Face the Nation." "As of today, she's joining CBS News as a contributor."

Rice, secretary of state during President George W. Bush's administration, will "use her insight and vast experience to explore issues facing America at home and abroad," the network said in a statement to Politico.

CBS did not immediately respond to requests from TheWrap for comment.

Rice served as national security adviser from 2001 to 2005 and as secretary of state from 2005 to 2009. She joins other Bush administration alumni hired as television commentators, including Karl Rove, the former deputy chief of staff, and John Bolton, former United Nations ambassador. Rove and Bolton both work for Fox News.

Rice has worked as a political science professor at Stanford University since leaving office and is the founding partner of the consultancy firm RiceHadleyGates.
