Conan Coming Back To Comic Con In 2016; ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Stars On Tonight

EXCLUSIVE: Conan O’Brien said he’s bringing his show back to the Spreckels Theatre at Comic-Con in 2016, and that his special guests tonight on his final stretch of originals from this year’s confab will be Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Oscar Isaac, James McAvoy, Olivia Munn and Evan Peters from X-Men: Apocalypse.

Conan this week became the first late-night show to broadcast from San Diego during Comic-Con. Late last month, when show producers announced that cast members from AMC’s The Walking Dead and HBO’s Game Of Thrones would be on stage with O’Brien, as well as Jennifer Lawrence and others from the upcoming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, they withheld the guest lineup for Conan’s final night from San Diego. The news of the X-Men booking comes just ahead of Fox’s big Hall H presentation in which the movie’s involvement had been rumored but not confirmed.

In taking the show on the road, O’Brien plays to his strength. In February he scored another first: becoming the first American late-night show to film in Cuba since the U.S. embargo began in 1962. He and a small crew flew to Havana and spent the weekend filming for his March 4 episode. Nearly 4 million viewers checked out Conan In Cuba which ranks as Conan’s most-watched destination special, though his Comic-Con stats obviously are not in yet.
