Cate Blanchett Cancels Morning Show Appearances to Mourn Philip Seymour Hoffman
With the Oscars looming and a starring role in the upcoming film “The Monuments Men,” Cate Blanchett has cancelled her Wednesday appearances on “Good Morning America” and “Live! With Kelly and Michael.”
According to Blanchett’s reps, the cancellations were made in order to “allow Cate the time and privacy to grieve for the loss of her friend Philip Seymour Hoffman.” Hoffman, who co-starred with Cate Blanchett in “The Talented Mr. Ripley,”died on Sunday.
Blanchett is nominated for a lead actress Oscar for her work in Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine.”
Blanchett’s upcoming appearance with the “Monuments Men” cast on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” was taped before Hoffman’s death.
The morning show cancellations come just days after renewed allegations that Allen sexually assaulted his adoptive daughter when she was seven years old.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported the cancellations.
