Cannes: Daniel Wagner Forms Specialty Finance & Production Outfit BiFrost Pictures

Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and Broken City executive producer Daniel Wagner will launch specialty finance and production company BiFrost Pictures at the Cannes Film Festival next week. The Beverly Hills-based entity is targeting 4-6 films a year with budgets up to $20M. BiFrost’s initial slate includes The Girl Who Conned The Ivy League from directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman and starring Amanda Seyfried. Wagner is producing alongside Wonderland Sound and Vision’s McG and Mary Viola, Taggart Productions’ Michael Nardelli and Envision Entertainment’s Grant Cramer. Also on the roster is Cold In July from We Are What We Are‘s Jim Mickle, which Wagner is producing with Rene Bastain, Adam Folk and Linda Moran of Belladonna Productions. Rounding out the slate is The World Made Straight with Minka Kelly, Haley Joel Osment and Noah Wyle. David Burris is directing from a script by Shane Danielsen. Producers are Wagner, Burris, Michael Wrenn and Tim Orr. Principal photography is underway in North Carolina.

“With the inception of BiFrost, we wanted to build a company that not only nurtures talent and fosters the creative vision, but creates content that inspires as well as entertains. We will remain grounded with our project choices, yet will always be open to explore the dynamic new media landscape that is forming in the marketplace,” Wagner said. He was previously president of production at Paradox Entertainment and an exec at Sweden’s Tre Vänner AB.
