Busan: Finecut Locks Deal on ‘Right Now, Wrong Then’

Korean sales company Finecut has closed a handful of sales deals for top Korean arthouse helmer Hong Sangsoo’s Locarno best picture winner “Right Now, Wrong Then.” The picture will be released in territories including Austria (Stadtkino- Filmverleih), Brazil (Zeta Filmes), France (Les Acacias), Portugal (Leopardo Filmes), Spain (La Aventura Audiovisual) and Sweden (Folkets Bio).

Kim Yunjeong, the company’s director of international business, told Variety that the deals were signed between the Locarno and Busan markets. “Buyers started showing enormous interest when it grabbed awards in Locarno,” says Kim. “Right Now” is screening at the BIFF’s Korean Cinema Today—Panorama section.

The company also picked up mystery thriller “Fatal Intuition” which centers on a man who chases the killer of his only sister with the help of a foreseer. Joo Won from “Fashion King” plays the man, and Milano best actress award-winner Lee You-young joins Joo as the foreseer. The second feature from director Yun Jun-hyoung (“Mokdugi), “Intuition” is produced by Sang Sang Film and presented by CGV Arthouse, CJ-CGV’s indie branch. It is set for an Oct. 28 release in Korea.
