Bryce Dallas Howard Joins Matthew McConaughey In ‘Gold’

Bryce Dallas Howard has landed the female lead in Gold, the Stephen Gaghan mining drama from TWC-Dimension that already stars Matthew McConaughey. The film, from Black Bear Pictures and HWY 61, is just past the midway point of principal photography, shooting now in New Mexico after kicking off in Thailand.

Howard is coming off co-starring in this summer’s massive hit Jurassic World. In this one she will play Kay, the longtime girlfriend of McConaughey’s character, who has supported him through thick and thin, but whose capacity and loyalty are tested as the hunt for gold pushes their relationship to its breaking point: He teams with an equally luckless geologist (Edgar Ramirez) to execute a grandiose, last-ditch effort to find gold deep in the uncharted jungle of Indonesia. Corey Stoll, Toby Kebbell, Bruce Greenwood and Stacy Keach round out the ensemble cast.

Patrick Massett & John Zinman wrote the script and are producing with Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman (The Imitation Game) and HWY 61’s Michael Nozik (Syriana). Paul Haggis, Ben Stillman and Richard Middleton are executive producing.

Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales for the film, which is expected to wrap filming in New York in October.
