‘Blunt Talk’ Solid Ratings Starter On Starz

Blunt Talk’s Saturday launch on Starz logged 601,000 viewers in Live+3. It’s lead-out, the second-season bow of Survivor’s Remorse, clocked 463K Live+3 viewers, which is up 68% compared with last October’s Season 1 starter.

Across all of its opening weekend plays on the network, the Patrick Stewart-starrer Blunt Talk snared 1.5 million Live+3 viewers. And Starz noted the kickoff nabbed an all-in of 2.4 million multi-platform viewers in early on-demand/online sampling. (A week ahead of its comedy block premiere, Starz offered multi-platform, nationwide sampling of the first two episodes of its new original series, from creator/executive producer Jonathan Ames and Seth MacFarlane, and the entire six-episode first season of Survivor’s Remorse. In addition, season premieres for both series were available on Facebook for a limited time prior to the linear season premieres on Starz.)

Survivor’s Remorse viewing across the weekend’s multiple plays on Starz brought in 1.3 million Live+3 viewers – up 87% compared to last year. And, all in, 2.2 million multi-platform viewers watched the second season’s unveiling including early on demand and online viewing.

Los Angeles-set Blunt Talk follows Brit import Walter Blunt as he attempts to conquer American cable news. Ames has described it as an exploration of what TV news would be had Network‘s “Howard Beale continued his broadcast,” only “slightly less mad.”

Survivor’s Remorse follows the life of young basketball star Cam Calloway (Jessie T. Usher) thrust into the limelight after signing a huge pro contract with a team in Atlanta. Mike O’Malley is exec producer and showrunner. The second season of the half-hour scripted comedy series will feature 10 episodes – up from its six-episode first season.
