Billy Joel Flips Palm Beach Spread (EXCLUSIVE)

Billy Joel has put a pair of side-by-side properties he bought less than two years ago in Manalapan, Fla., just south of blue-blooded Palm Beach, back on the market for a combined $29 million. The two parcels, both less-than-ideally bisected by Ocean Boulevard, together span more than 3.8 otherwise super-prime acres that stretch from the Intracoastal Waterway to the Pacific Ocean. They were purchased by the six-time Grammy winning piano man in two separate transactions in the spring and summer of 2014, for a total of more than $11.8 million.

The slightly larger parcel is one of the few undeveloped pieces of land in Manalapan, and the other, slightly smaller lot, is built out with an approximately 8,700-square-foot mansion described in the broker babble as a freshly refurbished “Modern Mediterranean Island Transitional.” The main residence has seven bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms, while a separate guesthouse above a four-car garage adds two more bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Notable features include a cavernous two-story living room with hand-stenciled Pecky Cypress ceiling, a colossal eat-in kitchen with barrel-vaulted Chicago brick ceiling, a mosaic tiled swimming pool, 150-feet of waterway frontage with private dock, and a boardwalk that meanders through scrubby dunes to the beach.

Joel has long maintained a fat and frequently in-flux portfolio of private residences, which currently includes a quirky pad across from the marina in downtown Sag Harbor, N.Y., as well as a 14,000-square-foot Gatsby-style mansion on nearly 15 waterfront acres in Oyster Bay, along the fancy-pants North Shore of Long Island, scooped up in late 2002 for $22.5 million.
