‘Banshee’ To End After Fourth Season, Cinemax Confirms – Update

UPDATE, 8 AM, with Cinemax confirmation: Cinemax has made it official. The premium cabler announced today in a statement that Banshee’s fourth season will be its last. Its eight-episode Season 4 will premiere in January.

PREVIOUS, July 28, 7:52 PM: Though the network hasn’t confirmed it, we’re hearing that Cinemax’s smalltown cops and criminals drama Banshee is set to end following the upcoming eight-episode fourth season. TV Line first reported the news. Speculation that the show was facing the end of the road started in earnest back in June, however speaking to Deadline at the time, HBO denied the rumors. Word is that the producers have known this was coming for some time, giving them enough leeway to bring the series to a proper conclusion rather than a sudden ending.

The final season, filming now, will air on Cinemax in 2016. New faces joining for the show’s last ride include Eliza Dushku, announced last April. Created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler, it’s exec produced by Tropper and Schickler, along with Peter Macdissi, Alan Ball, and Greg Yaitanes.
