‘The Art Of More’ Draws Strong Sales As Sony’s Crackle Drama Debuts In Cannes – Mipcom

Sony Pictures Television held the world premiere of The Art Of More at the Cannes Palais here tonight — in mercifully better weather than the town saw on Saturday and which has forced the shifting of many events. The well-received screening was followed by a rare cocktail party inside the hallowed halls of the Croisette’s most prestigious venue. The 10-part drama will air on Sony’s own Crackle, making it one of the latest to enter the digital space Stateside. Sony Pictures TV Chairman Steve Mosko told me it felt good to have one of the company’s own shows making such a splash on the streaming entertainment service. Debuting on Crackle on November 19, it stars Dennis Quaid, Kate Bosworth, Christian Cooke and Cary Elwes in the high-stakes world of New York auction houses.

SPT has now sold the drama in 25 territories including to Viacom’s Colors Infinity channel in India, OSN across the Middle East and D-Smart in Turkey. This is Crackle’s first hour-long series. In addition to its signature comedy talk show Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, Crackle carries game show Sports Jeopardy! On the drama side, it has distributed several shows in a 23-minute episode format including Chosen, Cleaners and Sequestered.

The Art Of More follows Graham Connor (Cooke), a blue-collar young man who leverages his way into the exclusive realm of premium auction houses by exploiting connections to antiquities smuggling rings he was exposed to as a soldier in Iraq. Bosworth plays Roxanna Whitman, daughter of the CEO of one of two warring auction houses, whose intrigue and drama is at the heart of the series. Quaid is charismatic real estate shark Samuel Brukner, a Machiavellian master of money and power who’s one part charm and one part intimidation.

The Art Of More is created by Chuck Rose, who with Gardner Stern (NYPD Blue, Law And Order), is writer and exec producer. Also exec producing are Quaid, Gary Fleder and Laurence Mark. The series is produced by Laurence Mark Productions.
