MSNBC has found a new co-host for The Cycle

Nation correspondent and MSNBC contributor Ari Melber will join the weekday talk show as a co-host, the network announced Wednesday. Melber will also regularly write for a new reported law blog, The Law of Politics, featured on MSNBC.com.

He takes over a spot that was recently vacated by Salon senior political writer Steve Kornacki, who was named new host of the Saturday and Sunday morning show Up.

"Steve is irreplaceable; he was erudite, unique and downright lovable, and it's clear the MSNBC audience is excited to see him develop as a weekend host," Melber tells The Hollywood Reporter by email

As for The Cycle, he explains that "Breadth is definitely a strength here; the show can toggle from live reports in North Korea to the grassroots activists pushing gun regulation to a look at how baseball presents a spiritual quest -- those were all topics this week."

MSNBC has made several changes to its line-up. Chris Hayes was moved from weekend host of Up to a primetime host and Ed Schultz's Ed Show migrated to weekend afternoons beginning this month.

The Cycle is co-hosted by S.E. Cupp, Krystal Ball, Toure along with the addition of Melber.
