Apparently, Emma Thompson Is Going To Hang Herself If She Sees Another Spider-Man Movie
How much do you hate Spider-Man? Well, even if you despise the webbed-wonder a lot Emma Thompson has you beat.
That’s because the beloved English thespian has admitted that she is willing to go to a very extreme length in order to never watch another Peter Parker tale again. In fact, she’s willing to hang herself.
Thompson admitted to Vulture that she has grown rather weary of the superhero formula, before she then picked out ‘Spider-Man’ in particular for some pretty harsh treatment.

It wasn’t always this way though, as Thompson explained, “I loved the original ‘Superman’ with Chris Reeve because there was a real tongue-in-cheek-ness to it, [but] after a while, you do get a tiny bit cynical about it.”
Thompson then added that she has grown tired of superhero films simply because she knows that the heroes are “going to win out in the end.”
However, Thompson saved her most scathing remark for the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise, erupting, “If I see yet another ‘Spider-Man’, I’m going to have to actually hang myself. I can’t do it anymore! They’re all marvellous, but how many times can you make this franchise, for crying out loud?”
Er, are you going to tell her, or am I? Unfortunately for Emma Thompson, Spider-Man’s latest incarnation will debut in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ next May, before he then gets another solo outing in 2017.
Emma Thompson isn’t the only cinematic titan to have voiced her disdain towards the genre this week. Steven Spielberg also predicted that superhero films will soon go the way of the Dodo and Western because of oversaturation.
It remains to be seen whether Spielberg is right with his prediction, especially since Marvel and DC have dozens of superhero blockbusters planned for the next half a decade.
All I’m concerned about though is Emma Thompson’s health and safety. In fact, someone should really sit her down and calmly explain that there is a new Spider-Man film on the horizon. Because if she finds out on her own, who knows what she’ll do to herself.
