‘Animals’ Animated Comedy From Duplass Brothers Gets HBO Premiere Date

HBO has confirmed the debut date for Animals, with the animated adult comedy series set to launch its 10-episode season on Friday, February 5 at 11:30 PM ET, exclusively on HBO.
Created by Phil Matarese & Mike Luciano, and produced by Duplass Brothers Television, Animals focuses on the creatures native to Earth’s least-habitable environment: New York City. Lovelorn rats, gender-questioning pigeons, and aging bedbugs in the midst of a midlife crisis engage in awkward small talk, moral ambiguity, and existential woes startlingly similar to that of the humans with whom they co-exist.

in May picked up two seasons of Animals for a 2016 debut on the pay cable network and its streaming platforms. The completed first two episodes of the series were screened in the Special Events section of the festival, to solid critical response. In addition to acquiring the first season, HBO ordered a second season and picked up worldwide rights to the show. In its announcement the network did not announce how many episodes were ordered, but the producers originally envisioned 10-episode seasons for the project, created by Phil Matarese & Mike Luciano.
