Animal Planet Orders ‘Dr. Dee: Alaska Vet’ Series From High Noon Entertainment

Dr. Dee: Alaska Vet follows veterinarian Dr. Dee Thornell as she cares for the wild and domestic animals of America’s largest state – even if she needs to learn how to fly a plane to reach them. The eight-episode reality series from High Noon Entertainment will premiere at 9 PM Saturday, November 7 on Animal Planet.

In the first season, Dr. Dee checks on a team of sled dogs to make sure they are ready for glacier work as well as a black bear that has come out of hibernation. She also castrates a drove of piglets for a rookie farmer, and treats a reindeer with a bizarre case of antler growths. Dr. Dee also spearheads a dangerous rescue effort using a helicopter to save a client’s beloved horse, which was injured during an expedition.

A reality series with a similar premise, Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet, premiered in April 2014 on Nat Geo Wild. It was canceled after its first 16-episode season.

This marks High Noon’s return to Animal Planet and the genre that launched the company 17 years ago with Emergency Vets on the cable network. Jim Berger, Scott Feeley and Sarah Presta executive producer Dr. Dee: Alaska Vet for High Noon Entertainment and Dawn Sinsel is the executive producer and Meredith Centrella is the associate producer for Animal Planet.
