By pairs of two, the final six were separated into categories of safety and the bottom three with Jessica Sanchez and Elise Testone first up to brave the stage and hear their fate.

After a tense and lengthy build-up, Jessica was given the initial pardon sending Elise first into the bottom three.

Hollie Cavanagh and Joshua Ledet were up next, ultimately separating the friends from one another as Hollie was designated into the bottom three, giving Joshua the opportunity to sing in the competition another week.

Finally, Skylar Laine and Phillip Phillips were left to square off. Skylar was eventually directed to take her place in the bottom with Hollie and Elise, while Phillip took his place of safety amongst Jessica and Joshua.
