‘America’s Got Talent’ Ratings Steady, ‘I Can Do That!’, ‘5th Grader’ & ‘Extreme Weight Loss’ Down

Last night was the calm before the storm, with primetime poised to be taken over by big league sports this week with the NHL’s Stanley Cup Finals starting on NBC tonight and the NBA Finals hitting the court on Thursday on ABC. Even with TV usage among adults 18-49 dipping 6% for most of Tuesday’s prime compared to last week, it was also a relatively tranquil night with few fluctuations – except for the new kid on the block.

Coming off a solid debut last week, I Can Do That! (1.5/5) took a 17% stumble last night among the key demo. All things considered, it wasn’t a bad Week 2 fate for the celebrity variety show. NBC still had the bragging rights on a moderately competitive night with ICDT! ending up as the second- highest-rated of the evening.

The highest-rated show of the night saw Heidi Klum get sawed in half by an ambitious magician in the L.A. auditions and a self-styled professional regurgitator take the stage on the second week of Season 10 of America’s Got Talent (2.4/9). Also the most watched show of Tuesday’s primetime with 10.70 million tuning in to the 8-10 PM airing, AGT came off last week’s premiere low with an 8% slip in the demo. With that, NBC took the night among the 18-49s with a 2.1/7 rating and an audience of 8.96 million.

Second place among the demo was a 3-way 0.9/3 tie between Univision, Fox and the encore-full CBS, with the Eye coming in No. 2 in viewership with 7.6 million watching. ABC was third in the 18-49s with a 0.8/3. Part of that result was a consequence of ABC’s only original of the night, Extreme Weight Loss (0.8/3) shedding 11% of the demo that showed up for its Season 5 premiere on May 26. In preliminary numbers that matches a series low for the unscripted show. After a The Flash repeat, The CW’s only new show of the night was iZombie (0.6/2), which was even with last week with the freshman series tying a low in preliminary numbers.

It was kid knowledge and cooking on Fox last night with Are You Smarter That A 5th Grader (0.7/3) and Hell’s Kitchen (1.1/4). The former was down 12% from its season debut last week while the latter was even with its May 26 show.
