Following the recent news of its 2nd season order, Humans has been acquired by AMC Global for first-window rights from Endemol Shine International. The eight-part Season 1 will debut in most of AMC Global’s 125 markets in October with the 2nd run to follow in 2016; it will continue to air on Channel 4 in the UK. AMC is also ramping up its simultaneous global premieres with martial arts drama Into The Badlands set to debut in most offshore territories in step with the U.S. on November 15 at 10PM Eastern. Local channels will then re-broadcast the premiere in primetime in individual markets. (The series won’t air in the UK, however, until 2016.) AMC has already said it will do the same with Fear The Walking Dead which debuts on August 23 at 9PM (launching on BT in the UK shortly after the U.S. premiere date). HBO has previously experimented with the simulcast tactic, notably with Season 5 of Game Of Thrones.

Canal Plus is prepping a new eight-part drama series, Guyane, to be produced by Mascaret Films. The French-language adventure tale centers on Vincent, a 20-year-old Parisian geology student interning for a gold mining company in Guyana. Believing he’s discovered a secret mine that’s been abandoned for 120 years, he teams up with the Godfather of Gold, Antoine Serra, who rules over the remote village of Saint Elias and agrees to take Vincent to the ends of the jungle. The pedigree on this is interesting with cult director Kim Chapiron helming — his credits include 2006’s Sheitan and 2010’s Dog Pound which won the Best New Narrative Filmmaker prize in Tribeca. Comic book author Fabien Nury wrote the series (and will also direct) with Sabine Dabadie and Frédérick Folkeringa. Mathieu Spinosi (The Visitors 3), Olivier Rabourdin (Grace Of Monaco, Taken), Issaka Sawadogo (Samba), Anne Suarez (Standing Tall) and Flora Bonfanti (Ophelia) star. Shooting runs through December.
