Alex Ranarivelo Reined In To Direct Ranching Drama ‘Running Wild’

Director Alex Ranarivelo has signed on to helm the drama Running Wild, for Forrest Lucas and Ali Afshar’s newly launched ESX Entertainment. The film follows a widowed ranch owner who works with ex convicts to rehabilitate the wild horses that wander onto her property. In doing so she saves her ranch, but must confront prejudice, greed, vanity and bureaucracy while learning that helping other living creatures is a great remedy for misfortune.

Running Wild is tied to Forrest Lucas’ nonprofit “Protect the Harvest,” which is dedicated to educating the public about, and protecting hunting, farming, ranching, and pet ownership. It’s being financed and produced by ESX Entertainment, with Lucas and Afshar on as producers. The script was written by Brian Rudnick (Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God). Principal photography is slated to begin mid-August in Napa, CA.

Ranarivelo is repped by Managers Zach Cox and Lawrence Mattis at Circle of Confusion.
