Alex Cary Inks Overall Deal With Uni TV

After more than five years at 20th Century Fox TV, Homeland executive producer Alex Cary is moving to Universal TV with a two-year overall deal.

Cary spent the last four years on the Fox 21 TV Studios-produced Showtime drama Homeland, which he joined after the pilot, rising from co-executive producer to executive producers for Seasons 3 and 4 before he departed the Emmy-winning series. Prior to Homeland, British-native Cary worked on 20th TV’s Fox drama Lie To Me. He joined as a story editor at the beginning of the second season, and by the end of the season, he had been upped to executive producer and co-showrunner, landing his first overall deal with 20th.

Cary, a former Special Forces operative who served in Operation Desert Storm and in Northern Ireland, started his TV writing career on FX’s The Riches and USA’s In Plain Sight.

“Alex has a muscular tone and energy to his writing and has experience in both broadcast and cable. He has a unique background and point of view that comes through in his writing,” said Uni TV EVP Bela Bajaria. “We are looking forward to developing a show with him.”

Cary, whose previous development include the CBS drama pilot Anatomy of Violence, is repped by WME and Hansen Jacobson.
