‘Against The Wild 2′ Sets Spring 2016 Theatrical Release

Unlike its direct to DVD/VOD only predecessor, Anchor Bay has set plans to give Against The Wild 2: Survive The Serengeti limited theatrical release. The next installment of the nature survival series will hit theaters March 11, 2016 in close to 50 markets, including Los Angeles and New York. It will also get a day and date VOD release.

Against The Wild 2 focuses on an Alaskan malamute named Chinook being transported to a new home with his family in Africa. When the plane he is traveling on is hit by a rocket attack, it crashes, with Chinook and two children aboard surviving. While their mother searches desperately for them, the dog and children embark on a journey across Africa, facing dangerous wildlife and treacherous terrain along the way.

The film stars Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager), John Paul Ruttan (Robocop), and Ella Ballentine (Time Tremors). Against the Wild director Richard Boddington returns to write and direct. It’s produced by Boddington, along with Jesse Ikeman and Greig Buckle, and exec produced by Pierre-André Rochat, Marc Swenker, Don Fenton and Mary Fisher. Raven Banner is handling distribution in Canada

Against The Wild, a VOD/direct to DVD Walmart exclusive in 2013, was a financial success for Anchor Bay. Beginning with Against the Wild 2, the series is planned as an anthology, with different actors and stories, linked by the theme of survival against the odds in dangerous wilderness.
