AFM: Lightning Entertainment Shifts Into Pic Production, Starts With ‘Dead Drop’

Los Angeles, CA (October 23, 2012) – Marking a strategic shift in the company’s development, Lightning Entertainment (“Lightning”), the independent sales and distribution company is entering into the feature film production arena. The first title on the company’s production slate is the action film DEAD DROP starring Luke Goss (INTERVIEW WITH A HITMAN), Cole Hauser (THE HIT LIST) and Nestor Carbonell (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES), it was announced today by Robert Beaumont, President of Lightning.

DEAD DROP is written by Ben Budd and directed by R. Ellis Frazier (LA LINEA, THE EXODUS OF CHARLIE WRIGHT) who also produces alongside Jacov Bresler and Justin Nesbitt. Beaumont is executive producing the film on behalf of Lightning, with Lightning consultant Richard S. Guardian, and Ray Mortier also attached as executive producers.

Currently in post-production, DEAD DROP tells the harrowing story of Michael (Goss), a CIA operative who is shot by his best friend, pushed out of a plane, but miraculously survives the dead-drop from 5,000 feet. Waking up to his living nightmare, Michael re-inserts himself into the dangerous Mexican smuggling ring where he was operating deep under cover to flush out his would be assassin who is also holding his girlfriend hostage.

Lightning will also handle international rights to the film, with Mathilde Epstein and Alexandra Cocean, the company’s VPs of International Sales, introducing the title to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market (AFM).
