ABC Orders Lottery Drama From 'E.R.' Producer, 'Detroit 1-8-7' Creator

ABC is hoping to hit the jackpot with its latest pilot order.

The network has picked up the drama pilot "Lucky 7" from former "E.R." executive producer David Zabel (pictured) and Jason Richman, creator of the short-lived series "Detroit 1-8-7" (which Zabel also executive produced).

The pilot will follow seven employees at a service station in Queens whose lives are changed in many unexpected ways when they win a lottery jackpot.

Zabel and Richman will write the project, which comes from ABC Studios and Amblin TV. They'll also executive produce, along with Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and Steven Spielberg.

ABC has ordered a number of drama pilots in recent days, including "Big Thunder" from "Ice Age" writer Jason Fuchs and Chris Morgan, which is based on the Disney park ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and follows a brilliant doctor in late 19th century New York whose family is given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relocate to a frontier mining town run by a powerful, but mysterious tycoon.
