20th Century Fox Films to Get Stage Treatment

Or is it 20th Century Fox that’s going Broadway?
Fox and McCollum have formed a joint venture to develop live stage productions based on the studio’s titles. They are joined by Tom McGrath and film producer John Davis.
“For years we have been eager to expand our entertainment expertise to the world of live stage, but we wanted to do it right and most importantly, with the right people,” said Fox’s Jim Gianopulos. “We have been fortunate to have found great partners in Kevin, John and Tom to help to transform great Fox properties into exciting live stage entertainment for audiences everywhere.”
The legit team is looking to develop nine stage musicals, shows that could conceivably return to the bigscreen as tuners.
Day-to-day operations of the joint venture will be overseen by McCollum.
“This new joint venture provides a much-needed foundation to the creative process for myself, my partners, and the artists who will develop these shows,” said McCollum. “We are eager to get to work mining the stage theatrical possibilities of the Fox film library.”
A few Fox titles have already made the transition. “All About Eve” became “Applause,” for example. But it’s doubtful the studio can do anything with its two screen versions of “Les Miserables.” Then again, in pubs throughout the Rialto they are already casting the musical version of “Valley of the Dolls.”
