Russians Are Upset Over Spider-Man in 'Captain America: Civil War'

Captain America: Civil War was filled to the brim with fun action and memorable performances, but the highlight for many, if not most, was Tom Holland making his debut as Spider-Man. He was pretty charming.

But while we here in the grand United States (of America) were tickled by Spidey, our friends in another part of the world were not. The Hollywood Reporter pointed out that there is a contingent of Russian Marvel fans — in Russia — who are unhappy with the actor who was hired to dub Holland’s lines in their native tongue. They even started a petition on change.org to request a new voice actor for future films.

The aggrieved who heard voice actor Vladimir Kanuhina’s work were bumming hard. The Reporter translated one comment on the petition: “This is important because Spider-Man’s [Russian] voice didn’t absolutely correspond to the character. OK, he is a school kid, but that doesn’t mean he has to sound like a 10-year-old.”

The Reporter reached out to the production company that hired Kanuhina, and they stood by their choice. So who knows if the 1,200-plus who signed the petition will get their way. At least we’re happy over here! Holland was great!
