Russell Crowe to Direct, Star Opposite Nicole Kidman in ‘Inside the O’Briens’
Just as “The Nice Guys” prepares to bow at Cannes, its star Russell Crowe has signed on to direct “Inside the O’Briens,” a drama about Huntington’s disease in which he’ll star opposite fellow Australian Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, TheWrap has learned.
Crowe will play police officer Joe O’Brien, a good cop from the Irish Catholic neighborhood of Charlestown, Massachusetts. A devoted husband and proud father of four grown children, Joe begins experiencing dramatic mood swings, bouts of disorganized thinking and strange, involuntary movements. As these symptoms worsen, he is given a life-changing diagnosis of Huntington’s disease.
WME Global will be shopping the project to foreign buyers at Cannes, where producers are also expected to be revealed.

Crowe recently made his directorial debut with “The Water Diviner.” He next stars opposite Ryan Gosling in Shane Black‘s “The Nice Guys,” and last week, he confirmed reports that he would join Tom Cruise in Universal’s “The Mummy.”
He’s represented by WME and Bloom Hergott.
Kidman can currently be seen in Jason Bateman‘s indie dramedy “The Family Fang,” which she also produced, and she will soon be seen alongside Dev Patel in the Weinstein Company’s “Lion” and John Cameron Mitchell‘s “How to Talk to Girls at Parties.”
Kidman has been busy filming the HBO miniseries “Big Little Lies,” and she recently signed on to star in Sofia Coppola‘s next film “The Beguiled.” She’s repped by CAA, Media Talent Group, Shanahan Management and Jackoway Tyerman.
