Rumored The Walking Dead Finale Song Might Offer Clues On Who Dies

Now, this one might be a bit of stretch, but some people are talking about it so I feel like we should at least acknowledge it.

Be warned, mild spoilers but mostly speculation about The Walking Dead's season finale follow.

Surely, someone will die upon Negan's arrival. It's been greatly hyped and comic fans are expecting bloodshed. The cast members have repeatedly emphasized the craziness of the episode, how phenomenal Negan's entrance is, and Melissa McBride said she couldn't speak after reading it. So, it's going to get ugly.

A new rumor has spawned regarding the finale and it has to do with a song which will allegedly play to cap of the sixth season. It's called "This Ain't The End," originally performed by Mara Lavelle. Naturally, fans started digging for clues when they found this out as many suspect Negan's introduction will be the concluding moments of episode 16.

There are a couple of ways this song is being analyzed.

The first is that Emily Kinney will make a reappearance as Beth during a hallucination of Daryl Dixon's as an invitation to join him in the after life. Now, that makes very little sense. Sure, they were friendly, but if we're basing that on the fact that Emily Kinney appeared on set this season, it would make much more sense for her to be singing Maggie into the great beyond.

The other theory, of course, circles Glenn. They're finding the lyrics, "We are family," and "Our legacy will never die," to be in reference to his unborn baby.

There is always the possibility that both of these theories are wrong and this song will not actually be the one which plays during the finale at all but we'll have to wait until April 3 to find out. There are still two episodes remaining before the finale, anyway. Glenn, Maggie, and Daryl have to make it that far before we can assume Negan kills any of them, in the first place.

If I had to weigh in, I'd have to go with a combination of these theories. The emphasis on the episode's darkness and struggles to digest its script indicate something truly beyond a simple character loss. One theory pegs Rick as Glenn's killer. He is put into a situation where he is forced to kill the dad-to-be or see his entire group slaughtered, only to ultimately do so and have Maggie killed, as well. Now, that's dark.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.
