'Rogue One' Featurette: See How All Those Creatures and Aliens Got Crafted

After over a year of speculation, production leaks, teasers, trailers, posters, convention presentations, and other assorted advertisements, tickets have now gone on sale for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ahead of its theatrical debut on Dec. 16. In the leadup to the premiere, the film has now unveiled a new featurette and TV spot to further stoke excitement.

In the first video (featured above), we get a closer look at some of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into designing and shooting the various creatures featured in Rogue One, many of which have been crafted, not with CGI, but as real, elaborate costumes — including the “space monkey” who was seen in earlier trailers firing an enormous canon. In the second new clip (below), we’re given another brief TV spot (dubbed “Worth It”) that takes a more rousing, inspirational approach to the material, proclaiming that this is where “Hope Begins” — an obvious nod to the fact that, in the franchise’s timeline, director Gareth Edwards’ installment takes place directly before Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope.
