Robin Williams Drama 'Boulevard' Acquired by Starz Digital

Starz Digital has picked up the North American rights to Robin Williams’ final feature film performance in Boulevard.

Starz Digital will open the film in New York and other major markets starting on July 17, 2015. Boulevard features the late comic and actor playing a lonely married man who waits almost five decades to acknowledge he is gay.

Dito Montiel directed Boulevard, which bowed at the Tribeca Film Festival. “Boulevard is a complex, life-affirming and surprising film, and Robin’s final performance is absolutely remarkable,” said Starz head of acquisitions Kevin Kasha in a statement.

The indie also stars Kathy Baker, Roberto AguireBob Odenkirk, Giles Matthey and Eleonore Hendricks. Boulevard, from Camellia Entertainment and Evil Media Empire, is based on a script by Douglas Soesbe.

The film was produced by Monica AguirreDiez Barroso, Ryan Belenzon, Mia Chang and Jeffrey Gelber, and represented by Preferred Content and WME Global.
