Robert Kirkman Dishes On Negan's Big Entrance On The Walking Dead
With two episodes left in The Walking Dead's sixth season, we know that Negan's arrival is no more than 9 days away, assuming he doesn't pop up this Sunday.
Fans of The Walking Dead comic (and pretty much everyone else at this point) know that when Negan makes an entrance, he also makes an impact. The villainous figure stepped into issue #100 by bashing in the head of the beloved Glenn Rhee in front of all of his friends.
With the introduction imminent, audiences are wondering how closely it will follow the iconic moment from the comics.
"I think everybody on the show recognizes it for the iconic, monumental moment that it is in the comic book series," says The Walking Dead writer and creator Robert Kirkman. "No one is discussing not doing something like that in the show. It’s a very big part of his introduction and we want to do it justice.
"But something as well known as that moment — maybe it would seem like it wouldn’t be a great thing if we did an exact sort of thing just because people might be expecting it. All I want to say is, read the comic, but you’re not going to know what to expect. Part of the reason that that moment was such a big deal in the comic is the fact that you did not expect that it was going to happen, and so we’re very confident that we found a way to keep it as unexpected in the show as it was in the comic. So it should be just as intense, just as heartbreaking, and just as shocking."
It will be very bitter sweet if The Walking Dead's finale chooses to follow the comics in its finale. On one hand, the most iconic moment in the series' history will be accurately portrayed on television but on the other, we would lose Glenn.
