Resident Evil: The Final Chapter hit New York Comic Con with a longer glimpse at the franchise’s endgame, and it’s looking quite bleak.

There are plenty of monstrous zombies and even some vehicular action that is reminiscent of Mad Max: Fury Road in the trailer.

“One way or another, our world is coming to an end. The question is, will we end with it?” asks Dr. Isaacs (Iain Glen).

Alice (Milla Jovovich) is given a proposition from the Resident Evil’s villainous A.I., who claims the Umbrella corporation has developed a cure for the T-Virus, which has savaged humanity. However, at this point she’s more interested in revenge against those who have left the world in ruins (Isaacs in particular).

The film represents the end of an era; the video-game franchise will have spanned 15 years and six films when all is said and done.

Sony’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, from director Paul W.S. Anderson, is set for a Jan. 27, 2017, release.
