Princess Leia's Iconic Slave Bikini and Other Awesome 'Star Wars' Artifacts Are Now for Sale

One of the most iconic — and uncomfortable — costumes in film history, this metal bikini that Carrie Fisher wore during the Jabba the Hutt palace scenes in ‘Return of the Jedi’ is expected to fetch $80,000-120,000. It comes with the original wax prototypes sculpted during pre-production, as well as paintings that show the evolution of the costume’s design and the artists’ notes and reference photos. Speaking of the Tattooine-based crime lord, the original design sculpture made by legendary Oscar-winning visual effects artist Phil Tippett is also up for sale. There is only one of these bad boys left, and it’s expected to go for $12,000-15,000. (Profiles in History)

The ‘Star Wars’ franchise won a bundle of Oscars and other awards for its special effects and groundbreaking technological work, but no trophy could compare to this one-of-a-kind C-3PO statuette. This incredible artifact was presented to visual effects master Brian Johnson after he left ILM following ‘The Empire Strikes Back.’ It’s signed by over 30 ILM crew members, too, including the legendary Joe Johnston. Own a piece of evil! The second Death Star was never completed in ‘Return of the Jedi,’ but the intricate model the filmmakers made sure was impressive. Up for sale is one piece of the galaxy’s ultimate weapon, which was built at the Industrial Light and Magic model shop. This could cost $25,000-35,000. (Profiles in History)

Audiences had no idea what they were in for when they sat down to see ‘Star Wars’ in the summer of 1977, and this Rebel Blockade Runner was one of the first images that greeted them on screen. It was carrying Princess Leia, C-3PO and R2-D2, though it wasn’t able to deliver them to safety. It comes from the collection of Grant McCune, who won an Oscar for Best Visual Effects for the original film. It is the only Blockade Runner made in this size, and given its significance, it should go for $200,000-300,000. (Profiles in History)

Never content with the status quo, the Lucasfilm team tweaked the design to Darth Vader’s helmet in between ‘A New Hope’ and ‘The Empire Strikes Back.’ This wasn’t the finished version, but it will still cost $30,000-50,000. (Profiles in History)

The ‘Force Awakens’ panel blew the lid off of Comic-Con this summer, but back in 1976, Lucasfilm was desperately trying to stir up a little buzz for their not-yet-released first movie. They gave out this poster to fans at the then-tiny fan festival, as well as Wizard-Con in Kansas City. Now it’s estimated to be worth $600-800. (Profiles in History)

Fans rushed out to toy stores earlier this month to get their hands on the latest and greatest Star Wars toys and products tied-in to the next episode of the franchise, The Force Awakens. Now, nostalgic — and well-heeled — fans can turn their attention to an even cooler sale: Original Star Wars memorabilia up for auction at the end of the month courtesy of Profiles in History in Los Angeles. There are some pretty incredible items up for grabs, including the slave bikini that Carrie Fisher wore in Return of the Jedi and producer Gary Kurtz’s collection of rare and vintage posters.
