Prashant Shah has joined Benaroya Pictures as vp and head of physical production. He will oversee budgeting and scheduling all of the company’s productions as well as supervising production duties on set.
Shah has worked on more than 20 feature films and dozens of television shows throughout India, the U.K. and the U.S, including the Ra.One, a superhero film from India, and the Bollywood hit My Name Is Khan. In 2010, he received a Producer of the Year award from the U.S. Congress for creating thousands of jobs on local productions.
“After seeing Shah’s great successes with a variety of international productions, we look forward to a continued track record of producing high-quality films. He will be a valuable on-set presence with our future projects," Michael Benaroya, the company’s founder, said.
Benaroya Pictures upcoming projects include Brian Horiuchi’s Parts Per Billion, starring Rosario Dawson, Josh Hartnett, Teresa Palmer, Penn Badgley, Frank Langella and Gena Rowlands, and John Krokidas’ Kill Your Darlings, starring Michael C. Hall, Daniel Radcliffe, Jack Huston, Ben Foster and Elizabeth Olsen, which will be released domestically by Sony Pictures Classics.
