The 'Inside Out' Stars Cast Their Own Inner Voices

In Inside Out, the new Pixar animated feature hitting theaters on Friday, we get a peek inside the mind of an 11-year old girl named Riley and get acquainted with the rollicking and roiling emotions keeping house in her Headquarters. We recently sat down with Inside Out cast members, each one of which portray an emotion in Riley’s head: Amy Poehler (Joy), Phyllis Smith (Sadness), Lewis Black (Anger), Bill Hader (Fear), and Mindy Kaling (Disgust). Naturally, we had had to ask them what famous voices they would like to hear inside their own brains. (See the video above.)

Kaling starts off the inner wish list with her desire for the “dulcet tones” of The Wire and Luther star Idris Elba, while Black raises the IQ of the proceedings by making a plea for Albert Einstein. Poehler follows suit by naming physicist Marie Curie. Watch the video to see who the rest of the cast chose and to hear a spirited discussion on whether or not Einsten really counts as an actor.
