X-Men

On Tuesday, director Bryan Singer excitedly tweeted that "X-Men" franchise players Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart would be reprising their respective roles as Magneto and Professor Charles Xavier in the upcoming "X-Men: Days of Future Past." It's been more than six years since McKellen last played the magnetic mutant in "X-Men: The Last Stand" and almost four since Stewart made a cameo appearance as Professor X in the lamentable "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." It's not so much the time that makes these character reprisals a surprise, but the fact that the two actors are reprising the roles at all. With the ascension of the younger X-Men cast in "First Class," many assumed that they'd seen the last of Stewart and McKellen in the franchise, but thanks to the time-travelling plot of "Days of Future Past," the elder mutants will take to the screen once again. Here are several other actors who reprised famous characters years after they originally played them.
