'A Christmas Carol' – While there have been countless adaptations of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” – featuring everyone from George C. Scott, the cast of the Muppets, Michael Caine, and even Patrick Stewart – the 1951 version starring Alastair Sim as Ebenezer Scrooge is considered by many to be the definitive adaptation. You know the story: Scrooge - a cruel businessman who only cares about money – is visited by a three ghosts on Christmas Eve who show him the error of his ways. Scrooge becomes a nice, goose-buyin' guy, and Tiny Tim Cratchit and family have a happy Christmas for once. No non-religious tale will likely ever surpass "A Christmas Carol" as the go-to holiday story.
