The movie's hero and villain are actually sidekicks Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) and Smaug the Dragon (Benedict Cumberbatch) aren't very friendly in the "Hobbit" films (when have hobbits and dragons ever gotten along, really?), but outside of Middle-earth, the pair get along quite swimmingly. On the BBC television series "Sherlock," Freeman plays war vet doctor John Watson to Cumberbatch's titular detective Sherlock Holmes. Holmes and Watson have always had their ups and downs, but they certainly get on much better than the film's diminutive hero and monstrous, jewel-encrusted, fire-breathing villain.
