Cinematic dreck like "The Hottie and the Nottie

" are depressingly common. They suck the life force out of you. Yet there's a small subset of movies that are so laughably, preposterously awful that they transcend normal notions of quality. They're not just bad -- they are awesomely bad. Michael Paul Stephenson's "Best Worst Movie
", which is making its way around the country, is a documentary about one such flick. "Troll 2
" is by all accounts a hilariously bad movie. Describing its mind-bogglingly silly plot might very well induce a migraine, but it does include oozing chlorophyll, militantly vegetarian goblins, and some of the worst line readings in history. The one thing not to be found in the movie is an actual troll. But the film's obvious flaws strangely saved it from obscurity. Its heavy rotation on late-night cable turned "Troll 2" into a cult fave. "Troll 2" parties and conventions were soon in the making. The film had become a phenomenon.
