Petition Aims to Shut Down Rotten Tomatoes Over 'Suicide Squad' Reviews

It seems safe to say that DC and Warner Brothers will be following their critical flop Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with another poor showing. At the time we’re publishing this, Rotten Tomatoes has collected 93 reviews on Suicide Squad and … yikes. “The year’s most muddled piece of storytelling,” shared David Edelstein of New York Magazine and Vulture. “Feels like a load of hooey,” complained Ignatiy Vishnevetsky of the A.V. Club. “A total s***show,” agreed Will Leitch of the New Republic.

These, and many other bad reviews have inspired a new petition on Change.org calling for Rotten Tomatoes to be shut down. Abdullah Coldwater of Alexandria, Egypt, the petition’s creator, wrote:

We need this site to be shut down because It’s Critics always give The DC Extended Universe movies unjust Bad Reviews, Like 1- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 2016 2- Suicide Squad 2016…and that Affects people’s opinion even if it’s a really great movies.

Last time we checked, it was well on its way to the goal of 15,000 supporters. So … is it real? Or just a joke? We don’t know for sure, but it sure feels like a joke. Mr. Coldwater has been updating with various tweets calling his petition stupid. They point out that Rotten Tomatoes isn’t to blame if critics don’t like movies. But, that being said, Mr. Coldwater said he knows a petition won’t shut down the site, that his intent is to send a message to critics that, “a lot of people disagree with their reviews.”

Regardless of the intent, the top rated comment is from one Babyfarts Mcgee. McGee opined, “Me stupid. me not understand site is aggregate not movie-reviewer.”
