Watch a Supercut of Tom Hanks at His Angriest Best Thursday brought news that Tom Hanks will be among the luminaries celebrated at the Kennedy Center Honors in December, a black-tie gala in which he’ll sit next to the President and First Lady. But does the Kennedy Center really know who they’re dealing with here? The 20th anniversary rerelease of Forrest Gump is hitting select theaters now, and we wanted to remind America that while Hollywood’s reigning Mr. Nice Guy played a memorable kind-hearted rube, he also has a excellent knack for losing his temper on-screen.
Sony Pictures announced an April start for the production — the successful franchise is among the very few that's targeted at adults
The untitled Steven Spielberg-Tom Hanks Cold War thriller at DreamWorks just took an intriguing turn. Joel and Ethan Coen have come onboard to pen a draft of the screenplay that tells the true story of James Donovan, an attorney who was thrust into the center of the Cold War when he negotiated with the KGB for the release of downed U-2 spy plane pilot Gary Powers. STORY: Tom Hanks Attached to Cold War Thriller, Steven Spielberg May Direct The project, which was written by Matt Charman, was set up last year, but Hanks’ attachment gave it a major boost in April. The Coen brothers’ involvement only adds momentum to the thriller, which could be Spielberg’s next project, with an eye toward a September shoot in Europe.
Two by two, a mass of animal species march onto the big screen — and into the pop culture canon — with this weekend’s “Noah.” Darren Aronofsky’s retelling of the Bible’s ultimate account of seagoing survival stars Russell Crowe as Noah himself. And (spoiler alert!) Noah’s double rainbow of animals, so to speak, proves unsinkable.
Abnegation (The Selfless) Angelina Jolie: She may not let a year go by between mirror checks, but otherwise the "Unbroken" director is all Abnegation. Not only did she adopt three children from underprivileged nations around the globe and step up as a U.N. goodwill ambassador, but she also helps run a number of humanitarian organizations and is said to donate a third of her salary to charity. Sean Penn: The two-time Oscar-winning actor has long positioned himself within the fray of political and social activism, but it’s been Sean Penn’s hands-on disaster relief work in New Orleans and Haiti which have really made him worthy of the grey threads of Abnegation. Tom Hanks: Tom Hanks would be a shoo-in for Amity if it weren’t for the fact that he’s just so very charitable.
