Pee-wee Herman Has a Bombshell Heart-to-Heart With Joe Manganiello in This Exclusive New Clip

Pee-wee is going on another big adventure.

In its latest foray into nostalgia service, Netflix is bringing back Paul Reubens’ iconic character in his first film since 1988’s Big Top Pee-Wee. In this new clip of Pee-wee’s Big Holiday (watch above), we learn some big news about the Judd Apatow-produced film: It may star the same character, but it doesn’t necessarily stick to the canon of the original Pee-wee film. Here, the ageless man-child has never left his idyllic hometown of Fairville, and it takes a pep talk from Joe Manganiello to inspire his departure from the picturesque hamlet.

We’re assuming this means that, in this new version of the Pee-wee universe, he has never visited the Alamo, romanced a bike shop employee named Dottie, revved up to ride with Satan’s Helpers, or had his own movie-within-a-movie.

But don’t worry, Pee-wee purists: As we saw in its previous trailer, Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday has a whole lot of nods to the beloved ‘80s films and TV series, including all of Pee-wee’s delightful Rube Goldberg-esque home contraptions.

Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, directed by John Lee, hits Netflix on March 18.
