Disney's Full 'Zootopia' Trailer Takes You to an Urban Animal Paradise

Now this is a sophisticated group of anthropomorphized animals, even by Disney’s standards.

The Mouse House released the first full, plot-heavy trailer for its upcoming animated feature Zootopia, which puts a cop comedy and underdog story inside a gleaming and peaceful city run by animals of all species. Even predators and prey live in harmony in this idealized, skyscraper-filled metropolis, and every type of animal has its niche in this modern animal kingdom.

But though it rhymes with utopia, not all is perfect in Zootopia. There is still some crime, which necessitates a police force. And that’s where Judy Hopps, the ambitious bunny voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, comes into the story: She’s the first bunny officer on the force, but nothing comes easy. She’s stuck on traffic duty by nay-saying commanding officers, and when she talks her way into a big case, she needs all the help she can get.

Unfortunately, that help has to come in the form of Nicke Wilde, a wise-guy fox voiced by Jason Bateman. He’s the only witness to the crime that Judy needs to solve, and the two end up together on a wild goose chase (not literally) for the truth.

The film, which hits theaters on March 4, boasts an all-star voice cast. Along with Goodwin and Bateman, it features the vocal talents of Idris Elba (Chief Bogo, the police boss), J.K. Simmons (Mayor Lionheart), and Shakira (Gazelle) who also contributes music to the film — including the song in the trailer.
