Nicholas Hoult Pulls a Heist for the Heart in 'Collide' Trailer (Exclusive)

A year after burning rubber across post-apocalyptic sands in Mad Max: Fury Road, Nicholas Hoult is cranking up the gears again in the upcoming thriller Collide. (Watch the exclusive trailer above.)

He plays Casey Stein, a reformed miscreant who turns to his old habits when his girlfriend (Felicity Jones) lands in the hospital in need of a kidney transplant. Casey checks in with his former crime boss, Geran (Ben Kingsley), who sets him up on a heist… that goes terribly wrong. Soon Casey is speeding across German highways on the run from the menacing mob boss Hagen (Anthony Hopkins) and gang.

As far as casts go, there’s plenty to like here. Hoult (Warm Bodies, Jack the Giant Slayer) has quietly become a stellar leading man after the grown-up About a Boy star burst back onto the scene in the X-Men movies. The Oscar-nominated Jones (Theory of Everything) is about to become an action heroine in her own right with the lead role in December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. A German-accented drug smuggler is exactly the type of role Kingsley likes to chew up, and villains don’t get any more menacing then when they’re played by the man whose Hannibal Lecter still haunts our dreams.

Directed by Eran Creevy (Welcome to the Punch) and based on a script he cowrote with F. Scott Frazier (the upcoming xXx: The Return of Xander Cage), Collide hits theaters Aug. 19.
