A downward American Idol won Wednesday night for Fox, averaging a 4.6 rating with adults 18-49 and 14.2 million viewers. The two-hour episode was off nearly an entire point from last week's 5.5 rating in the demo.
With two exceptions, ABC was also down from previous originals. The Middle (2.3 adults) was off two tenths of a point from its last showing. The Neighbors (1.8 adults) climbed two tenths of a point with the aid of an original lead-in, but Modern Family (3.8 adults) was off four tenths of a point to a season low. Suburgatory (2.1 adults) also benefited from its lead, growing three tenths of a point. Nashville (1.7 adults) was off two tenths of a point to tie a season low. The network averaged a 2.2 adults rating and 6.9 million viewers.
Leading with a Person of Interest encore, CBS had new episodes of Criminal Minds and CSI. Criminal Minds (2.7 adults rating) tied a series low, dropping four tenths of a point and CSI (2.4 adults) was down two tenths of a point. The network averaged a 2.1 rating in the key demo and 10 million viewers.
Whitney (1.2 adults) was down a tenth of a point from last week on NBC, while Guys With Kids (1.2 adults) was up a tenth of a point to retain its lead. Law & Order: SVU (1.5 adults) and Chicago Fire (1.8 adults) were also both down, a respective two and three tenths of a point. The network pulled a 1.5 rating with adults 18-49 and 5 million viewers.
The CW saw Arrow (1.0 adults) improve by a tenth of a point from last week, with Supernatural (0.9) steady at 9 p.m. The CW averaged a 1.0 adults rating and 2.6 million viewers.
Univision averaged a 1.4 rating with adults 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers.
