‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ Trailer Unmasks a Stormtrooper, Teases Villain (Video)

The first trailer for “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” debuted online on Friday morning.

The 1-and-a-half-minute preview teases a new robed villain handling what appears to be the next evolution in lightsaber technology.

But it appears director J.J. Abrams wants fans to play the guessing game for a bit before revealing who is portraying the new disturbance in the Force. The Sith Lord makes his entrance with his back turned to the camera, unfortunately.

What is revealed, however, is Oscar Isaac sitting in the cockpit of an X-wing Starfighter, John Boyega as a distraught stormtrooper, and the Millennium Falcon back in action.

“Episode VII,” which also stars Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o and Max von Sydow in addition to returning cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, hits theaters in 2015 on Dec. 18.
