As Predicted Here, Warner Bros Promotes Film Execs Jon Berg & Courtenay Valenti
BREAKING: As Deadline was first to reveal after the exits of Lynn Harris and Sarah Schechter, Jon Berg and Courtenay Valenti have been promoted to EVP Development and Production at Warner Bros Pictures by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production. Both execs, who’ve worked forever with Silverman, will report to him. Duties will be expanded for Valenti, a 25-year studio vet, and Berg, who has been rising in the ranks since arriving in 2008. They will take grater roles in oversight and management of Warner Bros’ development team and budget, as well as managing the studio’s film projects.

“Courtenay and Jon are hands down two of the best executives in the industry, with impeccable creative sensibilities and a real love of films and filmmaking,” said Silverman. “Courtenay has deep ties to the Warner Bros family, and throughout her tenure has worked on some of our most successful and critically acclaimed films. And, over the last six years, Jon has repeatedly proven himself a key driver of our films’ success. I look forward to working closely with both of them and continuing to build upon Warner Bros Pictures’ legacy of creative excellence.”
Each is a seasoned hand in steering big pics. For Valenti, that includes the studio’s recent triumph The Lego Movie, the last four Harry Potter films, Happy Feet, Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, and the upcoming George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, the Will Smith-Margot Robbie-starrer Focus, the Robert Downey Jr-starrer The Judge and the Nancy Meyers-directed The Intern with Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Berg’s pics include the Sherlock Holmes franchise, The Dark Knight Rises, Argo and The Blind Side, and the upcoming Edge Of Tomorrow, Jersey Boys, Run All Night, Inherent Vice, Entourage, Midnight Special, and American Sniper. Before he got to Warner Bros, Berg produced Elf.
