Okieriete "Oak" Onaodowan is ready to wake up.
The actor, who originated the roles of Hercules Mulligan and James Madison in Hamilton, will succeed Josh Groban in Broadway's Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812.
Onaodowan will play the titular Pierre alongside Denee Benton as Natasha beginning July 3. Groban, who made his Broadway debut in the role, will lead the show at the Imperial Theatre through July 2 (with the exception of select performances, in which creator Dave Malloy will star).
Directed by Rachel Chavkin, the new musical is based on a 70-page section of Tolstoy's War and Peace and focuses on a young countess and the unhappy aristocrat who helps extricate her from a ruinous situation in pre-revolutionary Moscow.
Aside from Hamilton, Onaodowan was previously seen on Broadway in Rocky and Cyrano de Bergerac. Onscreen, he has appeared on the TV shows Girls, Ballers and The Get Down, and can be seen in Dustin Guy Defa's drama Person to Person and Stephan Rick's upcoming thriller The Super. The actor is repped by Innovative Artists and Red Letter Entertainment.
