With songs by the Spice Girls, Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce blaring out of the speakers at the BevHilton, it was obvious girl power was the theme at the Gracies on May 21. But the men were not forgotten.
The 38th Annual Gracies, which recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women, honored the not-so “single lady” Giuliana Rancic for her television show “Giuliana and Bill,” created with husband Bill Rancic.
“On my way here, my husband called and said two things,” Rancic said. “‘Don’t get all Italian on everyone and talk for 20 minutes and put them asleep. Also, don’t forget to mention me.’ Looks like I remembered.”
Lucy Hale (pictured) was honored for her perf on “Pretty Little Liars,” receiving her trophy from on-screen boyfriend Ian Harding (pictured).
“Thanks, Ian. Actually you should be thanking me,” Hale said. “Look at all these beautiful women here!”
Amy Poehler received her Gracie from “Parks and Recreation” co-star Adam Scott. “Thank you, Adam, my television husband and my real-life enemy,” she joked.
Also honored was Melissa Etheridge, who performed “Come to My Window” and “I Run for Life,” which was inspired by her battle with breast cancer. She received an energetic standing ovation from the audience.
