The Walt Disney Company has reached a multi-year, comprehensive distribution agreement with Cox Communications that will bring WatchESPN and other Disney services to Cox customers, the companies said Thursday.
The deal also includes bringing Disney's WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney XD and WATCH Disney Junior services to to Cox customers starting next week. WATCH ABC and WATCH ABC Family, which have yet to launch, will also be made available to Cox customers. In all, approximately 70 Disney services are included under the agreement, which will make Disney content available to Cox customers via TV, computers, smartphones, tablets and other platforms.
The new agreement will also bring ESPNEWS and ESPN Classic to Cox's Cox TV Connect app, which allows customers to watch TV on their iPads and other i-gadgets,
The companies also announced that ESPNEWS and ESPN Classic will be added to Cox TV Connect, Cox's proprietary app that allows customers to watch live TV on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch from anywhere in their homes. Cox is increasing the number of channels on Cox TV Connect to 90, starting Monday, December 17, 2012.
